Can Mega Projects be successful?

11th May 2020 at 12 pm

Megaprojects are temporary endeavours (i.e. projects) characterized by: large investment commitment, vast complexity (especially in organizational terms), and long-lasting impact on the economy, the environment, and society. Megaprojects are often criticised for being late, overbudget and poor value for money. However, is the situation really this simple?

In this presentation, Prof Locatelli will firstly review the state of the art about research in megaprojects presenting a critical analysis of megaproject performance and the different narratives about “what makes a megaproject successful”.  Later he will show how benchmarking can help organisations in improving the planning and delivery of their megaprojects.
