Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can achieve equality. Collectively we can #BreakTheBias.

PMI UK Chapter volunteers are partnering with Chapters across Europe to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March. We will bring together current and next generation women PM professionals and changemakers from a number of regions including – but not limited to – the UK, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany the Netherlands, and Ireland. Our celebrations will be held between 8-10 March.

Speakers and participants from a range of diverse backgrounds and sectors will provide their perspective on the key themes, trends, and current practices on how to #BreaktheBias.

With our friends and colleagues from Europe, we have curated an interesting blend of speakers and presenters who will impart their vast knowledge and experience. Each day, at 1200 GMT, we will be broadcasting presentations, panel discussions and a fire-side chat from the Hopin ‘stage’. Before and after each stage show, we have organised interactive workshops, breakout rooms, and a variety of short (25 minute) sessions.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to make connections and forge relationships using Hopin’s unique ‘match-making’ networking feature, as well as taking a virtual wander around Europe, meeting exhibitors, and learning from each other.

Our key conference themes

  • Collaborate Across Boundaries (8 March): the focus will be on sharing knowledge, experience, thought leadership, and tips and tricks between PMI Chapters, cross-industry partners, and associations.
  • Sustainable Development (9 March): Building on the success of PMI UK’s pre-COP26 Net Zero steppingstone conference in mid-October 2021, and in support of PMI’s ‘Hours for Impact’, the focus will be on what we can do to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • The Inclusive Workplace: Building Community by Making the Workplace Human/Humane (10 March): The focus of this interactive session will explore the challenges and opportunities that women in project management face, in a topsy-turvy post-Covid world

Our International Women’s Day event last year focused on ‘The Modern Woman in Leadership: Challenges in a Post-Covid-19 Era.’

This year, as we build on that theme, our event is going to be far more action-oriented. We will be sharing resources provided by the International Women’s Day team, and we will signpost the many products, services, take-aways, and volunteering opportunities for personal and professional development provided by PMI Global and local chapters.

In the UK, we will also be using our new Opiner Cognitive Diversity tool to harness the collective wisdom of conference attendees and to listen to your views on possible future events as well as the creation of a European Women in Projects group.
