Some people have the opinion that flashy AI and analytics tools are the essential ingredient to enable Project Data Analytics as a discipline to deliver value to our wider stakeholders.
Using examples from major investment programmes he has been involved in, Julian Schwarzenbach will try and redress the balance of priorities for Project Data Analytics to increase understanding of the importance of data in the overall approach.
PMI UK Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation.
PMI UK Webinar: Building Global Project Teams in Times of No Travel – The COVID Caveat. 23rd July 2020
If there is one group ahead of the curve where it comes to virtual work, it is project managers. But COVID put that into an entirely new spotlight, as even the initial kickoff meetings are being held virtually. Team alignment and relationships established early on in projects may lack a strong foundation when they are entirely established via web cams and Zoom meetings.
In this session, you will learn:
- Outcomes from a 6-week project that turned into 56 weeks due to team gaps
- Techniques to enrich team leadership and performance in virtual project delivery
- How COVID reduces the timeframe and increases the need for proactive team development
With an increasing number of projects managed internationally there are numerous opportunities to collaborate, perform and build new relationships. But - with each new opportunity comes hidden pitfalls around culture, ways of working and communication, not to mention language barriers. Only when project managers learn to appreciate and understand subtle cultural differences are they able to work, communicate and collaborate more effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners in multicultural settings.
A constant focus on benefits is probably the biggest factor in determining project success. But many organisations have made benefits realisation management so complicated, and benefits realisation so divorced from the day-to-day project decisions, that it’s difficult or impossible to maintain that ‘constant focus’.
Dr Minney will facilitate us through the basics of benefits management which every organisation should be doing in order to gain the benefits of benefits management:
- Understand different approaches to benefits mapping, and their use and abuse, whys and purpose
- What information do you need in a benefit profile to ensure that that benefit has a high chance of success – and how to prioritise so that you only put the work into the most relevant benefits
- How to put a value on each benefit, and how to defend this in a business case
- How to use this information to make better decisions, and how to keep it relevant and up-to-date
PMI UK has skilled Mentors and enthusiastic Mentees who are looking to share knowledge and improve their professional capabilities. The PMI UK mentoring scheme supports willing Mentors and Mentees by connecting them to develop their professional skills in project, program, and portfolio management. This is a voluntary scheme that succeeds through the interest, passion, and commitment of those involved.

PMI standards answer questions such as: How does your organisation’s project management compare to good practice? And what steps might you take to improve? What are the key elements of Project Manager competency? What do you need to know to be a competent Project Manager or competent in another project management discipline? PMI’s global standards carry the collective knowledge of the profession, based on input from thousands of practitioners. These standards are widely accepted and, when consistently applied, they help you, your global peers and your organization achieve professional excellence. See the full suite of standards at PMI.org.
