Show me the money!  Finances; what you need to know

Objectives/proposed achievements

It’s all about the money. Every business owner knows it. Every public service needs it. And to project managers it’s one of the triple constraints: scope, time – and cost. The one we don’t like talking about because it’s often too hard.

In fact, preparing, agreeing and then tracking a project budget can be one of the project manager’s big nightmares:

  • “What are those Finance people on about?” – Comprehend financial concepts and jargon
  • “How much will it really cost?” – Build confidence in the accuracy of your budget and risk estimates
  • “How much have we spent?” – Build simple cost controls into your project status tracking process

This webinar will emphasise the importance of taking charge of financial aspects and recap the key elements of estimating project costs, developing a project budget and planning for effective cost control. We will look at what needs to change in the future to enable project managers to take ownership of their project finances.

Learning Objectives:

On taking part in this webinar, participants will:

  • Get an overview of the financial aspects of project management
  • Understand the importance of knowing the cost of the project to date
  • Be given some examples of factors that hide real cost
  • Learn about areas that need to change to improve financial control of projects in the future
  • Hear about new technologies that could assist with project financial control
