PMIEF project off the ground in Hampshire

Having just received a grant from the Project Management Institute Educational Fund (PMI EF), the Hampshire Schools PM Skills Programme got off to an encouraging start this month with Mill Chase Community Technology College’s Head Teacher, Jackie Adams, appointing her Deputy Head, Denise Adams, to lead the project for the school. The i-Learn team will form the nucleus of trained teaching staff at Mill Chase and is made up of four of the College’s key stage teachers; Amy Woodyer, Liz Beattie, Lesley Ralls, and Andy Kay. It has been decided that the i-Learn programme is the perfect vehicle for the Hampshire Schools PM Skills Pilot Programme. It is proposed that a series of Five 50 minute sessions will be developed using some of the i-Learn topics as an example project and based on the tailored material from the PMI EF. Once the lesson material has been developed and refined for use in the UK, the i-Learn Team will be trained by the Programme Team made up of Nick Symes and Ryland Lee who are well known educational specialists from The Learning Scaffold and Simon Robertson a PMI® R.E.P. trainer and project manager. More volunteers from the PMI will be drafted to assist with the programme once the teachers have been trained later this year. This team of i-Learn teachers will then train other teachers to help them deliver the programme to the students. It is planned that the Hampshire Schools PM Skills Programme will be rolled out in the Spring Term early next year for Mill Chase and the other school, The Connaught School, will follow later on in March 2012.
