Please download and read the PMP Continuing Certification Requirements program handbook . This is the definitive source of information. It is updated regularly. If you have questions, please contact the PMI Certification Department. For contact information, refer to http://www.pmi.org/.
Certification exams are co-ordinated by the PMI centrally. They are available online on a daily basis at two locations in the UK and at locations in many other countries. To apply to sit the Certification exam, please either download the application form from the web site, or complete the online application. Full details are available on the PMI website, a good starting point being the Certification page, this includes some example questions. Whichever way you apply, your application should be received at the PMI well before the date you wish to take the exam.
Additionally, examinations are also available at other locations across the UK, on specific dates throughout the year. The difference being that instead of contacting Prometric to arrange your examination date - contact PMI directly to register for the examination. You can now do this at the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Service Centre.

This process was simplified in July 2005. Whilst fax and mailing of hardcopy reporting forms is also an available option, the online reporting is quick and simple to use. The following outlines the key steps.
The process for reporting PDUs for chapter events attracting more than 2 PDUs is different to the process for those events of 1-2 PDU value. The following outlines the key steps.
Project Management Institute - UK branch is part of the global professional association for project programme or portfolio managers and PMO officers - The Project Management Institute. PMI membership is Global. It is administered centrally at the PMI web site.
PMI membership offers membership of the central organisation plus a choice of membership of local branches called "Chapters", membership of specific interest groups "SIGs" and membership of specific knowledge areas Colleges. Below we explain How to Join both PMI and the UK Chapter.
Apply on line with a credit card at the PMI web site. Click on "Join Now" to the left of the page. Then chose the appropriate type of membership. Choose Browse Communities and select Chapters then the UK Chapter then "Join" and "Add to cart" to join PMI UK. Choose the SIGs or Colleges relevant to your industry or interests. A complete list of these is available at the PMI web site under "Global Membership and Communities". Then click on "Checkout" and follow the process to pay.
If your organisation has a group of 15 or more individuals wishing to join, PMI offers a Group Billing Plan scheme. The purpose is to make the process of applying for membership and administration of memberships easier for you, there is no group discount. Contact us for more.
The Group Billing Plan scheme is flexible; existing PMI members can count towards the 15 minimum members and more staff can be added to the scheme during the year if you wish. Most organisations find that the Group Billing Plan is a great way to ensure a group of project managers all join the PMI at one time.
Email the PMI UK Chapter Office. The office will send you an information pack if you include your postal address. If you have more detailed questions, the office will forward them to the members of the Chapter Board who will reply as soon as they are able.
The PMI UK Branch is active with programme events and certification support for those applying for certification and training. And through it members have access to a range of services.
Membership of the UK Chapter will keep you in touch with the developments, techniques and tools, standards and growth of project management as a professional discipline worldwide.
Since 1984 PMI has been dedicated to developing and maintaining a rigorous, examination-based, professional certification program to advance the project management profession and to recognize the achievements of individuals in project management.
PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification is the world's most recognised professional credential for individuals associated with project management and at the end of 2003 there were 75,000 PMPs worldwide. PMI's Associate certification, the CAPM, is for those active in project management who have demonstrated fundamental project management knowledge and experience.
In 1999, PMI became the first organization in the world to have its Certification Program attain International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9001 recognition.
As regards training courses, there is a global programme administered centrally within PMI HQ (in the US), for consistency. This is titled "PMI Registered Education Provider Program" (REP).
The R.E.P. Program is designed to enhance the ongoing professional development of PMI Members, Project Management Professionals (PMPs), and other project management stakeholders through participation in various learning experiences and activities related to the field of project management. Examples of Registered Education Providers may include PMI Chapters and Specific Interest Groups (SIGs), consultants, schools, corporate training centers, government agencies, professional associations, and any other providers of education related to project management.
There are UK providers registered to provide the training, but the UK Chapter itself does not have a local UK based certification.
http://sparky.occe.ou.edu/pmi/pmisearch.cfm hosts a searchable database of courses. To list courses from this database click the 'UK Courses' button below. You will then be given a list of all the UK Courses held on this database. For more information about a particular course, please click on the event title.
