3rd November 2011, Indigo O2, LONDON
PMI UK Chapter is proud to host a day of entertainment, learning and celebration. The presenting Speakers have been involved in some of the biggest, most significant projects happening in the UK today. Celebrate your profession, enjoy a day that will be sure to open your mind and engage your ambitions.
High profile Speakers will inform and entertain, having been involved directly or indirectly with project management. This landmark occasion will be held on International Project Management Day 2011, giving us all the chance to celebrate our chosen profession. PMI UK Chapter is proud to be hosting this event, which is expected to be the biggest of its kind ever seen in Europe.
Through grants, programs, scholarships, and educational resources the PMI Educational Foundation (PMI EF) brings the benefits and the power of project management to local communities and to the farthest reaches of the world for social good. The PMI EF confirmed earlier this week that they will fund the Hampshire & Surrey Schools initiative led by Simon Robertson, a past Director of Professional Development for the UK Chapter. The PMI UK Board are fully supporting this initiative and have been foundational in the application for PMI EF funding.
This Pilot will test the belief that a coherent and consistent approach to the development of project management skills will, among other things, provide individual students with critical life skills which will benefit them in their subsequent careers. A team of educational specialists will tailor material for the UK (England and Wales) educational system. This material will then form the basis for a Pilot Programme in which the team will train school teachers in two schools to deliver it to selected students.
More information on this new venture will be made available in the following months and a progress update will be available at the Synergy Conference on 3rd November 2011.
There is also another Pilot underway at a primary school in Scotland. Being driven by Iain Simpson, the Pilot involves students creating, planning and delivering a project that is based on PMBOK fundamentals – these having been introduced to the teachers previously. A case, based on this Pilot, is being built to integrate project management with the Curriculum For Excellence in Scotland.
